Dearest friends and esteemed supporters of the LaCroix ministry,

Greetings in the glorious name of Jesus Christ, the Lord Almighty, the Son of God. We’re back with you this weekend. I know you were hoping for a new issue of ZOOM IN this weekend. Thank you for spending a little time each weekend reading ZOOM IN to keep up with what’s happening at LaCroix New Testament Mission. We’re happy to know that. Here’s the latest info:

END OF THE COURSE FOR THE LADIES OF THE LAST SEWING CLASS

Three years ago, there was a second group of ladies who were trained to become dressmakers. When you question them to ask if it was easy during these three years? They will tell you that it was not easy at all. One of the things that makes the technical school worthwhile is order and discipline. It’s one of the things that make them say it was not easy.

It must also be said that this class had nearly thirty people registered, but was reduced to twelve. Some people have closed their files for the next session.

These graduates will also find work during summer vacations in the mission. They’re the ones who’ll be making the schoolchildren’s uniforms. It’s a great privilege for everyone in this class.

The graduation ceremony is scheduled in December Lord willing. Next year these graduates as well as the former graduates are going to take a test by the board of education for vocational schools.

On behalf of everyone in this class, I’d like to thank all the friends, supporters and donors of LaCroix New Testament Mission for all you do, despite the wind and tide, you stand by us so we can help these women. And they can earn money, thanks to your diligence. Thank you very much! Because they have no money to learn a trade in the country. God bless you!

Let’s read a reflection of the children who benefited from the New Testament Mission Sponsorship program

My name is Waselet ROMEUS; I am registered in THCC-634 in  Child Sponsorship.  I am sponsored by Mrs. Peggy Chittum. I am nineteen years old. I was born in Découvert, an area of Lacroix where I also live with my parents and my five sisters and brothers. I am in the 13th year of what is called in Haiti, the terminal class or the last high school class. For a long time, I dreamed of becoming a famous engineer, but it can’t happen before I finish high school. At the very least, I will soon be graduating from the 13th grade, so I am starting to think seriously about how to achieve this important plan. I can’t say yet if I will be able to achieve this plan because my parents are not active enough to pay for my education up to University. I was sponsored from first grade to 13th grade. My parents can’t afford me, and they have other children to take care of.

I want to thank my sponsors,  Peggy Chittum, for her great effort to pay my school fees every month. I want you to know that I will always be  grateful.

I am praying that the sponsorship program will continue to work, so that many more children can benefit from it as it was for me. I ask God to give me the grace  when I work to sponsor children in this program. I don’t have enough words to express my gratitude to my sponsor. May the Almighty God continue to bless every sponsor especially my sponsor.

DEYBISSON ALUSMA (NEWB-01)

It’s a great pleasure for me to share with you something about myself. My name is Deybisson ALUSMA. I was born on December 20, 2004. I’m now in thirteenth grade, my last class before graduation. I have one last exam to take that we call Official Exams prepared by the school board next August. I live with my father and siblings, and I’m the oldest. I don’t even know my mother. I was born in the Dominican Republic. Then I got sick and suddenly my father came with me to the place where he was born to take care of me, and they separated from each other. It’s not easy to live without my mother’s love, and sometimes I cry when I think of her. My father does bricklaying and farming to take care of us.

As I said before, I’m the oldest. I have a lot of responsibilities, I work hard on my studies and I look after my brothers and sisters. In fact, I’m very busy because I work very hard to pass my exams. After graduating, my dream is to become a linguist. I have no words to express my gratitude to the Northeast Lions Club for its invaluable support in my education from kindergarten to senior year. Without your help, I wouldn’t be able to attend school.

-We will never tire of thanking you for your heart of love and your generosity towards the great CAUSE allowing to help our weak brothers and sisters who are in a desperate situation. In truth, thanks are not enough. The ministry is counting on your prayerful support to continue this work which is a great CAUSE and a noble CAUSE!
